Most parents searching for newborn photographer near me in Bangalore are looking for more than just a photographer who can travel to them. They are looking for someone who knows how to work in a home, how to find the story in a room and how to create photographs that feel like a memory rather than a session.
This post is about exactly that: what an at-home newborn photography session actually looks like, what we bring, what we look for in your home and why the photographs that come out of these sessions tend to be the ones families hold on to the longest.

No. And for many families, a studio is actually not the right choice.
Most of our clients come to our home studio in OMBR Layout, Banaswadi, Bangalore for their newborn session. But for families who prefer the comfort and privacy of their own home, whether because of postpartum recovery, a premature baby, twins or simply a preference to stay close to home, we bring the entire Kavitha Nagaraj Photography experience to you.
We arrive with everything needed to create a professional setup in your space. You do not need to source a single prop or prepare your home in any special way. The only thing we ask you to bring is yourselves.
Everything. Our in-home sessions are designed to offer the same quality and attention you see throughout our portfolio. We travel with a carefully curated kit so that your home becomes a fully equipped, safe photography environment.
This includes:
You do not need to buy anything. You do not need to prepare anything. We handle the setup completely so that you can simply be present with your baby.
When we photograph a family in their own home, we are not just changing the location. We are working with an entirely different kind of material.
Your home has a story. It has light that falls in a particular way at a specific time in the morning. There is a nursery corner that took months to carefully put together. The garden is lovingly tended by your mother. A quiet window seat has already held countless sleepless-night moments with your baby.
These are not backgrounds. These are part of your story. And they make for photographs that no studio setup can produce.
When we arrive for an at-home session, we spend the first part of the session simply reading the space: where the light is, what rooms feel most alive, which corners of your home tell the most about who you are. Then we build the session around what we find.
Rather than a list of themes, here is how we actually think about what to photograph in your home:
If you have set up a nursery, this is one of the most meaningful spaces to photograph. Not just the baby in a cot, but the room as you made it. The shelves you arranged. The mobile above the bed. The small details that will look different in six months because your baby will have changed everything about how that room is used.
The single most beautiful element in any home session is good natural light. A bedroom window on the east side of the house in the morning. A living room that opens out to a balcony. We look for this first. When we find it, we build around it.
If your home has a garden, a terrace or a courtyard, we will almost always include a short outdoor element when the weather and the baby’s comfort allow. These images tend to be some of the most beautiful from any session. A baby held in a garden that belongs to the family, with real light and real air, produces a quality that is simply impossible to replicate indoors.
We are careful about this. The baby’s temperature and comfort come first. But when conditions are right, the outdoor images from a home session are extraordinary.
The silver piece that has been in the family for two generations. The flowers someone brought when the baby arrived. The grandmother’s chair. The pile of books on the bedside table that tells you something about who these parents are.
We notice these things. We photograph them. They are the details that make a set of images feel like your life rather than a generic newborn session.
Parents holding their baby in the room where they actually spend their time. Siblings being themselves rather than being directed. Grandparents in the chair they always sit in.
At home, people relax in a way they simply do not in a studio. That relaxation shows up in photographs. It is the difference between a family that looks comfortable and a family that looks natural.
We are based in Bangalore and photograph families across the city and across Karnataka. We also travel to select cities for at-home newborn sessions including Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Coimbatore.
If you are in a city not listed here, please reach out. We consider travel bookings on a case by case basis and are happy to discuss what is possible for your family.
Yes. Safety is the foundation of everything we do. We bring professional posing equipment so the baby is always properly supported. We manage temperature and handling carefully throughout the session. After eight years of in-home newborn photography, every safety instinct is second nature.
You do not need to prepare much at all. We bring everything we need. If your home has good morning light in any room, keep it clear if you can. Beyond that, the only preparation is making sure you and your baby are rested and fed. We handle everything else.
Absolutely. Siblings, grandparents, extended family if they are present, all of them belong in the photographs. Some of the most moving images we have ever made have come from moments involving grandparents or older siblings that happened entirely without direction from us.
We carry supplementary lighting for exactly this reason. Every home is workable. We read the space when we arrive and adapt accordingly. No special setup is required on your part.
Three to four hours on average. We follow the baby’s pace entirely. There will be feeding breaks, settling time and moments where we simply wait for the right light or the right moment. We never rush.
Yes. We travel across Bangalore for in-home sessions. Whether you are in Indiranagar, Koramangala, Whitefield, Jayanagar, Bannerghatta Road or anywhere else in the city, we come to you. Reach out through the inquiry form on this website and we will take it from there.
Not all at-home newborn sessions are alike, and that is something worth knowing before you reach out.
Some families prefer a more structured setup: professional wraps, careful posing and a clean, polished aesthetic. Others want something closer to what you have read about in this blog, where the house itself is the backdrop, the moments are candid and the session feels less like a photoshoot and more like a quiet morning spent together.
We call this a lifestyle session. If this is what you are drawn to, please mention it when you get in touch. Let us know you came through this blog and that you would like a lifestyle session at home. That one detail helps us plan the session around what truly matters to you rather than arriving with assumptions.
Both approaches are something we do well. We just want to make sure we give you the one that feels right for your family.
If you are expecting or have recently had your baby and would like to talk about an at-home newborn photography session in Bangalore or in your city, I would love to hear from you.
